Easy access to experienced account managers

Each employer is assigned to his or her own workers' compensation account manager. All account managers are available through a toll free phone number, direct dial lines to their desks, and through individual email boxes. Account managers also periodically make courtesy calls to make sure you know who your account manager is and perform a review of cases and concerns. Account managers are all experienced in many facets of the industry. Having an assigned account manager gives you a single point of contact and a single point of accountability for how your case is handled.

Handling a new claim

Every new claim is reviewed and analyzed by the account manager for compensability. In a new claim, we compare the description and mechanism of the injury to the medical records to ensure consistency. We verify the employer’s position—accept or reject—to understand the total picture. Finally we review the BWC’s order on every claim to ensure that there is no discrepancy.

Managing your claims

We evaluate the workers’ compensation claims that are affecting your current experience and premiums. We prioritize the claims you have for action. Resolving the claims with the largest negative impact to your experience first expedites savings to you.

Hearing strategy and representation

In every case where a hearing is required, OMA account managers plan the hearing strategy with a workers’ comp attorney. Based on that strategy, the OMA sends the attorney or professional hearing representative with the appropriate skill level and experience to produce the desired outcome. OMA hearing experts know their geographic territories and the personalities involved in the Industrial Commission hearings, which helps them define more effective strategies. Your account manager and hearing representative will keep you informed each step of the way and provide written outcomes of hearing results. Your account manager will ask for your involvement in hearings for optimum outcomes.

Handicap Reimbursement

Handicap Reimbursement is a BWC program designed to encourage employers to hire and retain an employee with a handicapped condition. In the event a handicapped employee suffers a lost-time industrial injury/disease and files a workers' compensation claim, the OMA seeks out evidence of handicap condition and submits Application for Handicap Reimbursement for consideration. If the Application for Handicap Reimbursement is granted, the appropriate adjustment is made to your experience modifier calculation.

Pursuing unique settlements

Pursuing unique settlements – It’s smart to check to see whether an employer has a claim(s) in its experience that can be “settled.”   Settlement of a claim is a highly effective tool to reduce an employer’s claims costs; settlement can eliminate a costly BWC reserve on a claim.  Not every claim is a good candidate for settlement so expert advice is essential; your OMA account manager will evaluate each claim and make a recommendation.
