Group rating evaluation

We look for ways to qualify your company for the OMA workers’ compensation group rating plan that will provide the maximum discount for your company. We evaluate your BWC records regarding claims experience, workers’ compensation rates and premiums. OMA groups are tiered so that you can save more when your experience improves, and there is a good chance you can continue to save money in a lower tier if you have claims.

Workers’ compensation savings evaluation for large companies

We evaluate BWC records regarding claims experience, workers’ compensation rates, premiums and size of your company. If you are a large employer, we will tell you if you are better off without a workers’ compensation group plan (that is, you can get better credits on your own due to your large size). If you are a large employer, we can perform an analysis to determine if becoming self-insured for workers’ compensation is more cost effective than participating as a state fund employer. We can also determine if retrospective rating is viable for your company.

Proposal for managing claims and controlling costs

We evaluate your BWC records regarding claims experience, workers’ compensation rates and premiums. If your company cannot be placed in a workers’ compensation group rating plan because of worse than average claims experience in the experience period, or if your company is too large for group rating, we will make a proposal to you for Case Management Services to control your costs and—if applicable— restore your company to group rating status.

Ongoing analysis of workers’ comp experience

Periodically the OMA analyzes whether your claims experience for the current experience period with the BWC has improved, remains unchanged, or deteriorated and we tell you our findings. We will automatically try to qualify your company for group rating every year (if applicable) for maximum savings.

Audit of your manual classifications

Upon request OMA will review the manual classes assigned to your company by the BWC to ensure that you are paying no more than your fair share of premium based upon an accurate classification of your business. When warranted, OMA will make a reclassification appeal on your behalf to the BWC.

Evaluation of BWC programs

Is your company a candidate for premium reduction programs from the BWC for safety management and drug free workplace programs? We can connect you with the Drug Free Workplace programs and calculate your potential premium relief of participation. If your company is not eligible for group rating, we can also connect you with the BWC Premium Discount Program, available to non-group rated employers, and we can calculate your potential premium savings of participating.
